Your Tattoo Art and Design.

Part 1

If your looking for a tattoo artist to help you design the perfect tattoo for you here are some tips to help you when thinking about your tattoo Design.

Image and Style are the most important parts of the design process, and gives me the perfect idea of what you are looking for its a window into your soul.”

• Good photos/images are everything, they contain all visual information a tattoo artist needs. So you need clear photos, larger the size the better, with all the information you need within the photo.

• Style – your in love with, it maybe an artists style and how they create. If you don’t have a style you like, then show me the tattoo style you like ;)

• Themegothic, old school, celtic, moody, colorful, bright, bold, fantasy, whimsical, biochemical, dark, horror, pinup, comic, etc

• Color or Greyscale, or just plain black.

• Size

• Placement.

Your Skin Color is helpful too, as this will effect the color of the tattoo, but your tattoo artist will adjust the colors tones so they look great on your skin.

Basic rules in artwork the more simple the design the more it will stand out so don’t overcomplicate things. The eye is in the small detail and it will bring your tattoo to life.

Part 2

Since I have been designing tattoos, I get all kinds of different customers, and everyone is has a unique request. Normally my work can go one of two ways. In showing you the different senarios I can help improve our experience :) most of the time I get a person like:

Customer A. You who knows exactly what you want, right down to the image or photo to work from and the style, by this you have an image of a style you like, sometimes a favorite tattoo artist, fantasy artist etc.

Customer B. You who have seen a tattoo you like and you want a tattoo in the same style, but you want a fish rather than a flower.

Customer C. You have a simple theme like the Roaring Lion Tattoo, but you want a message conveyed in the theme. Its then up to me as an artist to bring it alive.

CustomeD.  Likes free range, by this I mean you want some angel wings for a tattoo and  you want them in celtic style, but you give me full range to come up with something from my imagination.

and occasionally I get

Customer E. You have an idea of what you want but you send me lots of different images and all of them different in styles, but none of them  are working together, this is very confusing for me cause I’m not sure which one to go with. You then have no exact image or models to work from. You are then asking me to come up with something out of thin air and design something, and you might not like it. Then as we are working together you change the image or you send me a tiny image I cannot work with. This is bad for both of us, for you it will be disheartening because I cannot draw what you want, and for myself it uses up way to much of my time and I become disillusioned as an artist and I can lose interest.

If you are person E then this blog post is just for you, to help improve your experience, and help give the most important information I need to help you.

My personal experience.

As an artist I just love people and when I design for you I want to make sure you are not just happy with your tattoo, but the service. Its the most wonderful experience to design for you, we are all born with a gift and when share them its the best experience.

Usually before I decide to take on a new commission I ask to speak with you via skype, Hearing your voice and your story, gives me a great insight into your persona and your design. You may also have questions for me and I will have some for you. Its important to me, that you are comfortable working with me. And that you can contact me if you need to. I can’t stress enough that the experience is everything.

More about our working together.
